What's Next?

All athletes on the Sportrock Youth Team begin with our Introduction to Organized Youth Climbing (IOYC) program. After IOYC, will have the opportunity to continue on our Recreational Climbing Club or join S1 – Skills Building Team to further develop technique and confidence.

From there, they can transition to S2 – Advanced Team (ages 10–16), which introduces structured training and conditioning and provides opportunities to compete in USA Climbing competitions under the guidance of Sportrock coaches. Climbers seeking greater challenge may progress to S3 - Competition Team with a focus on advanced skill refinement and competition. At the highest level, the S4 - Advanced Training & Competition Team is available by application and tryout for dedicated athletes pursuing elite goals.

Recreational Climbing Club

Our Recreational Climbing Club is designed for climbers of all skill levels who have already completed our Intro to Organized Youth Climbing, and  want to have fun, make friends, and develop their climbing abilities in a supportive environment. Grouped by age for age-appropriate instruction, our club provides engaging sessions led by experienced coaches, focusing on technique, strength, and problem-solving skills. Each session is unique and brings new challenges, keeping climbers motivated and continuously learning. Whether your child is new to climbing or looking to improve, this club offers a great way to stay active, make friends, and enjoy the sport at their own pace!

S1 Skill Building Team

The S1 Skill Building Team is designed to familiarize new climbers who have already completed our Intro to Organized Youth Climbing with the foundational skills they'll need to begin their competitive climbing journey. Climbers will learn age appropriate skills allowing them to not only to develop as climbers, but also develop as a people, learning socio-emotional skills through trust, perseverance through failure, and everything else that climbing teaches! Did you know climbing is a competitive sport? Sportrock travels to and hosts climbing competitions with USA Climbing allowing our athletes to compete against one another and athletes from other teams in the region and around the country!  Athletes who join the S1 Team may eventually have the opportunity to move on to our S2 Advanced Team.
